\ BIOGRAPHY
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1963, Marcelo Corpanni started his career as an actor, in 1985. At
the theater, he had a first glimpse of his future as a photographer, becoming an assistant of
lighting designer Davi de Brito, also known for his work with acclaimed theater director
Antunes Filho.
Later, in 1988, he started working with special effects at EB Productions, as an assistant to Rui Ribeiro da Luz.
In 1989, Corpanni was invited to work with Ultima Filmes, a production company run by Ronaldo C. Moreira, where he extended his skills not only in special effects but also as assistant film editor, directing and photographing.
In 1996 he had enough experience to become director of photography of Del Rangel’s “Contos de Lygia”, followed by “Cristais Debaixo do Trono” and “Contos de Natal”, in 1998.
His fourth film, “Tainá, uma Aventura na Amazônia”, co-directed by Tânia Lamarca and Sergio Bloch, granted him an award of Best Photograhy at the 5th Miami’s Brazilian Film Festival.
Shortly after, he worked with Brazilian film director Sergio Bianchi in two other features: “Quanto Vale ou É Por Quilo” – wich was widely acclaimed by critics – and “Os Inquilinos”.
In 2010, he obtained the ABC seal (Brazilian Society of Cinematographers)
In 2011, he worked with director Marcus Baldine and Brazilian bombshell Deborah Secco in “Bruna Surfistinha”, one of the best box offices of that year among Brazilian films.
Corpanni has a long career as a music video photographer. With Mauricio Eça he photographed award winning clips such as Racionais MC’s “Diário de um Detento” (the most popular rap act in Brazil), and “Admirável Chip Novo”, from Brazilian rock starlet Pitty. The list includes other popular artists like Capital Inicial, DMN, 509 E, CPM 22, Pedro Camargo Mariano, Maria Rita, Claudio Zoli, Tijuana, Emicida, Negra Li, among others.
In 2004, he won the MTV Brazil Music Video Award for best photography for Marcelo D2’s “Lodeando”, directed by Johnny Araújo.
In advertising he worked in more than 700 films over the last 19 years for a wide variety of clients such as Tim, Nokia, Audi, Centrum, Natura, Oral B, Fiat, Kaiser, Motorola, Brahma, Guaraná Antarctica, Bic, Mastercard, Ford, Semp Toshiba, Vivo, Procter & Gamble, Arno, Claro, Nivea, Net, Renault, Bradesco, Sadia, General Motors, Volkswagen, Nike, Nestlé, American Airlines, ABN Amro Bank, Unilever and many others.
In 2013, he photographed five episodes of HBO’s series “Psi”, created by Contardo Calligaris and directed by Marcus Baldine, Alex Gabassi and Paulo Machline. One year later, he worked with director Mauricio Eça in his film “Apneia”.
Recently, he worked with director Homero Olivetto in his film “Reza a Lenda”, starring Cauã Raymond, Sophie Charlotte and Humberto Martins, scheduled for 2016.
